Yesterday, the government claimed that it was willing to talk with the students; today, it have broken its own word by unjustly suppressing the occupation movement and choosing to be the enemy of the people. Such behaviour is little different from their previous exercise of violent clearance.
It was the students’ intent to resolve the problem through communication with Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary, and fight for a fair, just democracy system through such open dialogue.
However, the government and the police have stood by while watching triad society members and the so-called ‘Loving’ organisations attack the peaceful participants of the occupation movement, thus destroying the grounds for communication. They must be held fully responsible for this. It is CY Leung’s usual tactic to create scare among Hong Kongers using both legitimate and illegitimate forces. Hong Kongers witnessed all of it today. Now that the government has broken its word, there is no choice for us but to call a halt to the dialogue. The police must be held accountable for this, or the government will suffer from the consequences.
The government has stated clearly that they will clear the occupied zones. We call on Hong Kongers to act immediately and guard these areas. We shall fight and never succumb!
